Since the Middle Ages, the mountain has been associated with the “Mountains of Ararat” mentioned in the Bible as the place where Noah’s Ark found refuge.

Ararat is not only a natural phenomenon but also a symbol of great cultural and historical value. It is featured as the main symbol of Armenia, where it is regarded as a sacred mountain. Its significance is reflected in art, literature, and national symbols, including the Armenian coat of arms, where the mountain is depicted alongside Noah’s Ark.
