Zahtevno / Potrebno je prethodno iskustvo u planinarenju na vrhove iznad 6000m. U proseku očekujte oko 6-10h aktivnosti svakog dana, osim u dane kada je planiran odmor ili aklimatizacija. Pored pešačke kondicije potrebno je i tehničko znanje u korišćenju cepina, dereza, hodanja u navezi i penjanja uz fiksno uže. Neophodno je i iskustvo noćenja u šatoru u zimskim uslovima, kao i samostalna priprema hrane tokom boravka u šatoru.
What will you experience?
Na planinu Manaslu (8163 m) se prvi put popela japanska ekspedicija 1956. Ime planine potiče od sanskritske reči „manasa“ što znači „intelekt“ ili „duša“. Isti koren ima i ime svetog jezera Manasarovar u blizini planine Kajlaš na Tibetu. Kao što Britanci polažu pravo na Mont Everest, tako i Japanci, koji su prvi osvojili Manaslu, ovaj vrh smatraju svojim. Tokom putovanja 1950. godine HV Tillman i Jimmi Roberts su prvi fotografisali Manaslu. Međutim, prvo ozbiljno istraživanje sproveli su Japanci tokom ekspedicije 1952. godine. Japanci su prvi ozbiljni pokušaj da se popnu na planinu 1953. godine, prilazeći iz doline Buri Gandaki.
Godine 1954. seljani iz Sama Gaona sprečili su drugi japanski tim da pokuša uspon, optužujući prethodni tim da je izazvao lavinu koja je uništila manastir. Umesto Manaslua, ekspedicija je krenula ka Ganešu Himalaju. Uprkos značajnoj donaciji za rekonstrukciju manastira, naredne japanske ekspedicije – uključujući i onu 1956. koja je stigla do vrha – naišle su na neprijateljstvo i nepoverenje. Sledeći uspešan uspon Japanaca bio je 1971. Iste godine pokušao je jedan južnokorejski tim. 1972. pokušaj tirolske ekspedicije završio se tragično smrću dva člana tima. U isto vreme, ekspedicija Južne Koreje pokušavala je severoistočno lice, ali je lavina ubila četiri Korejca, jednog Japanca i deset šerpa. Manaslu je prelepa i veoma popularna planina kojoj penjači prilaze sa puno entuzijazma i radoznalosti.
