Damavand (5,671m), a symmetrical volcanic peak resembling Japan’s Mount Fuji, is Iran’s highest mountain located in Mazandaran province. Known for its sulfur emissions reminding of its volcanic nature, this adventure follows the basic trekking route which, while technically simple, requires excellent physical preparation due to altitude and exertion.
After conquering Damavand’s summit, the adventure continues with exploring Tehran, where you’ll discover its most significant cultural-historical monuments, museums and experience the atmosphere of its famous bazaar. The combination of natural beauty, physical challenge and cultural richness makes this expedition an unforgettable experience.
Day 01: TEHERAN. Arrival in Teheran. Transfer and accommodation at 4* hotel. City tour. Overnight.
Day 02: TEHERAN – TOCHAL – TEHERAN. Hotel breakfast. Transfer to Darband Square (1,850m). Acclimatization hike to Tochal (3,957m), first by gondola then trek to summit. Return by gondola to Darband Square and transfer to Tehran. Return to hotel. Overnight.
Day 03: TEHERAN – BERGAH. Breakfast. Transfer to Polur, then continue to Goosfand Sar (3,040m). Trek to Bergah Hut (4,250m). Accommodation and overnight.
Day 04: ACCLIMATIZATION. Breakfast. Additional acclimatization day. Hike to 4,600m and return to Bergah Hut. Overnight at 4,250m.
Day 05: BERGAH – DAMAVAND SUMMIT – BERGAH. Departure for Damavand summit (5,671m) at 04:00. Ascent takes about 6 hours. After summiting, return to Bergah Hut. Rest and overnight.
Day 06: BERGAH – TEHERAN. Descent to Gusfand Sar. 4×4 jeep transfer to Polur, then minibus to Tehran. Hotel accommodation and overnight.
Day 07: TEHERAN. Breakfast. Free day to explore Tehran. In case of bad weather, this is a reserve day for summit attempt. Overnight.
Day 08: TEHERAN Departure from Teheran.
Total adventure cost: €950
Applicants must submit climbing resume, insurance and passport scan. The adventure is open to those who have summited peaks above 4,000m or multiple peaks above 2,000m. Participants must be physically capable of hiking 15-20km with 1,000m elevation gain in our mountains, regularly practice aerobic sports (running, cycling etc.), and have winter climbing experience using crampons. Skills required include setting up tents in strong winds and overnight camping with independent food preparation on stoves.
