Iceland Trek

Visit all the major attractions in Iceland: Secret lagoon, Solheimajokull glacier, Dyrholaey Black & Reynisfjar beach, and many more.

Iceland is a Nordic island state defined by a dramatic landscape with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, and lava fields. Massive glaciers are protected in the Vatnajökull and Snæfellsjökull National Parks. Most of the population lives in the capital Reykjavik, which houses the National and Saga Museum, where you can see and learn about the rich Viking history. During our trip, we’ll visit all the major attractions in Iceland: Secret lagoon, Gullfoss waterfall, Kerid crater, Solheimajokull glacier, Dyrholaey Black & Reynisfjar beach, Fjadjargljfur canyon, Vatnajokull national park, Joculsarlon Glacier Lagoon, and many more. Besides our attractive trek, we’ll also visit the capital Reykjavik at the end of this trip.

Itinerary

Day 1

REYKJAVIK

Meeting at the Reykjavik airport at 13.00h. Transfer to accommodation. After settling in, we’ll take a tour throughout the city with a visit to Hallgrimskirkja church, Reykjavík’s main landmark, and the Sun Voyager statue located on the waterfront. Overnight stay.

 

Day 2

GOLDEN CIRCLE TOUR

Departure for the Golden Circle tour after breakfast. Our first stop is the Stockkur Geyser. Here we’ll photograph beautiful geysers where water erupts up to 25m with a scorching temperature of about 120 c. After that, we head to Gullfoss Waterfall, which impresses with its size. Moving on, we’ll visit and swim in the Secret Lagoon Hot Spring, unusual for its rustic look and warm waters. We finish it off with a visit to the Fridheimer tomato farm, with included presentation and tasting. Organized lunch if desired. To cap it off, a brief stop for a few photos of the Kerid Crater Volcano Carter. Return to Reykjavik, with about 4h drive. Overnight stay.

Day 3

REYKJAVIK - VIK

After breakfast, we pack and leave for the town of Vic, where we will spend the next two nights. Along our way, we’ll see Sjeandfoss, Glufrabui and Skogafoss waterfalls, and visit the beautiful Solheimajokull glacier. Here we’ll have a trekking tour with all the equipment provided (complete crampons, helmet, ice ax). We’ll hike to the DC3 plane on a deserted beach, ideal for taking incredible photos. Total walking – 7km, or about 2h to there and back. We’ll visit Dyrholaey Black sand beach and finally arrive in our accommodation in Vik. 3h drive. Overnight stay.

Day 4

VIK

Breakfast. Tour of the attractive black beaches of Reynisfjara (characterized by the basaltic rocks of Reynisdrangar – black volcanic sand). Return to the accommodation, free afternoon for sightseeing. Overnight.

Day 5

VIK - HOF

Breakfast. We march on toward Hof, a small farm village. We’ll pass and visit Fjadjargljfur Canyon. On the road visit to Svratifoss waterfalls (basalt rocks), with a 1-hour trek, where we continue our hike in unspoiled nature to the lookout above the Skaftaefll glacier. After that, we continue to Hof where we stay at the hotel. 2-3h drive. Overnight stay.

Day 6

HOF

Breakfast. A trip to the Joculsarlon Glacier Lagoon glacier. A beautiful glacier where pieces of ice roll off and float (here we take a boat sailing along that bay, an amphibian actually, 30 – 40 min). After that, the Super Jeep Glacier Tour is optional (departure at 2 pm, required advance notice because of pre-booking). Return to the hotel, overnight.

Day 7

HOF - REYKJAVIK

Breakfast. Return to Reykjavik. We’ll take a trip to the Blue Lagoon to swim in their famous thermal pools. Hotel accommodation and overnight stay.

Day 8

DEPARTURE DAY

Breakfast. Free time for some quick gift shopping, and transfer to the Reykjavik airport at around 12.00h to catch your flight home.

F.A.Q.

What are the hikes like?
Every hike for the duration of the tour is light, with around 5 – 10km per day on an easy pace. You will mostly walk on a safe and marked mountain trail. It can be windy and rainy because the weather in Island is variable. Please dress accordingly.

What’s the city tour like?

All-day city tour is organized with our guide and transportation. We will see the most important cultural and historical monuments in Reykjavik.

What skills/experience/fitness do I need?

You need to have moderate fitness levels. The previous hiking experience at altitudes up to 3000 above sea level is not mandatory. Your guide will give you full instructions and a safety briefing at the start.

All the activities on this trip will be led in English by qualified and licensed UIAA guide.

What’s the food like?
All food is local and is freshly cooked, hearty local meals. We can organize your meal in any way you like, if the restaurant/accommodation allows it. Drinks are not included.

Can my dietary requirements be catered to?
Absolutely. Just let us know when you fill in your travel documents.

What’s the weather like?
Spring and Summer are the best periods to visit this region, due to sunny and stable weather. In spring the average temperature in Island can be around 10 degrees Celsius, but on the mountain is colder and the temperature is around 5 to 10 degrees Celsius.

Which flights should I book?
You should book flights to Reykjavik airport.

How do I meet the transfer?
At your arrival, the transfer will be holding a sign with the name of the tour. We’ll give you all extra details before traveling.

How big will the group be?
This trip will run with a minimum of 6 people, and a maximum of 15. Please note, if there are not 6 people booked the trip may be rearranged or canceled. Please contact us for confirmation before booking your flights, or book with a credit card.

Can I customize the trip?
