Gods of Olympus canyoning tour

Experience Agia Kori, Orlias, Papa Rema i Enipeas canyons, visit Meteora and bathe on the Laptokarya beaches, all in this 8N/9D tour

Canyoning is definitely one of the youngest outdoor activities. The cause of this is most likely the development of the sports techniques and disciplines, as well of the equipment. This all lead to breaking boundaries and providing a possibility for people to experience canyoning in all its glory. Besides, outdoor activities are becoming available to everyone, and therefore are no longer privilege of only few experts.

In fact, canyoning is a mixture of speleology, mountaineering, swimming, water jumping, trekking… We’ll be doing all of these activities daily in order to reach our final goal – joy, satisfaction and an overall great time that will stick with you for the rest of your life! Canyons of Olympus are unique in their own way, decorated by the numerous tall cliffs and turquoise pools.

Day 1

  • Arrival in Thessaloniki airport
  • Transfer to Laptokarya  (2 h)
  • Overnight stay in Laptokarya

After a brief and warm welcome, we head directly to our main place for the duration of this adventure – Laptokarya.

With an occasional break we arrive at Laptokarya in an evening time. Just in time to settle in and get a good night rest for our adventure that awaits.

Day 2

  • Breakfast
  • Canyoning through Agia Kori canyon
  • Lunch
  • Free (beach) time
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay in Laptokarya

We have our breakfast and afterwards transfer directly to our first canyon. Since canyoning is a specific activity, before entering the canyon, we’ll go over a training course. There you’ll be introduced to the equipment and how to properly handle it, you’ll learn how to move in a canyon and what are the key do’s and don’ts while we’re in a canyon.

The first canyon we will visit is Agia Kori. This particular canyon is distinguished by 15 waterfalls, the highest of which is 20 meters. The exit from Agia Kori is located next to the church named – Agia Kori, after which the whole gorge and its canyon got its name. After our first foray into the world of canyoning, we’ll have lunch in the nearby tavern and then transfer to Leptokarya. There you’ll have the opportunity to have a little break on the beach, we are in Greece, after all. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 3

  • Breakfast
  • Canyoning through Orlias canyon
  • Free (beach) time
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay in Laptokarya

Quick breakfast and onto the next one – Orlias Canyon. This canyon is, nature wise, even more beautiful than Agia Kori. Great water, large waterfalls and less walking between the verticals make this canyon an extremely fun one. After our successful completion we transfer to our accommodation. Again, you’ll have free time for a visit to the beaches. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 4

  • Breakfast
  • Transfer to Meteora (2,5 h)
  • Tour of Meteora

Today we’ll take a break to get to visit the famous Meteora. They are a stone formation that rises in stark contrast from the flatlands surrounding it and contains one of the largest group of Orthodox monasteries after Sveta Gora. After our tour, we transfer to our accommodation where we’ll prepare for the next day. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 5

  • Breakfast
  • Canyoning through Papa Rema canyon
  • Free (beach) time
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay

Breakfast and transfer to our new canyon for the day – Papa Rema canyon. Jump, jump and jump! It’s all about jumping going through this one. Papa Rema contains ‘only’ 2 waterfalls where we’ll use the drop rope and for everything else, jump away!

After our fun and tiring day, we transfer to accommodation. Again, you’ll have free time to visit the beaches and go for a swim. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 6

  • Breakfast
  • Canyoning through Enipeas canyon
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay

Breakfast and transfer to our final (and most challenging) canyon – Enipeas. It’s the largest and most dominant canyon in Olympus. Huge amount of water sliding, jumping and swimming are what makes this canyon unique from the rest in this region.

The canyon itself completely changes its morphology several times during our canyoning, so you’ll have a feeling that you were in 3 canyons, not in the one and only – Enipeas, bathing place of the Gods from Olympus (according to some unverified sources). After, we transfer to our accommodation. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 7

  • Breakfast
  • Free (beach) time
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay

Today we’ll take a break from the all canyoning we’ve been doing for the past several days and spend the day on the beach, enjoying the beautiful Greece weather and just having a good time. Free time for all. Afterwards, dinner awaits in our accommodation. Overnight stay.

What is canyoning: Canyoning (also known as gorge walking) is probably best described as white water rafting without the boat.
