Itinerary

Day 1

Friday: Arrival and Hike around Black Lake

Your transport will meet you at Dubrovnik Airport where you will be transferred to Nikšić for a welcome lunch with your guide. After, we head straight to your accommodation in the highlands of Central Montenegro.

Check into your chalet, then stretch your legs with a scenic hike around “Black Lake” and enjoy the impressive mountain scenery before you head back to your chalet for a delicious dinner.

Day 2

Saturday: Climbing Montenegro's highest peak

You’ll begin your day with a drive to Katun Dobri Do trailhead (1700m), the start point of your hike to the summit of Bobotov Kuk (2522m).

This hike is considered one of the most scenic in the Durmitor Massif, thanks to its outstanding views along the entire trail.

When you reach the summit, you’ll be able to look down to the glacial lakes known as the “Eyes of the Mountain”.

Take some pictures before you begin the descent down the same trail. When you get to the bottom, head back to the chalet for a well-earned meal.

Day 3

Sunday: Departure

Take your time to enjoy breakfast and your last morning in Montenegro.

Your guide will then drive you to Podgorica Airport where you’ll catch your flight home.

Can I book on my own?
Sure can! A lot of people do, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

How big will the group be?
This trip will run with a minimum of 4 people, and a maximum of 16. Please note, if there are not 4 people booked the trip may be rearranged or cancelled.

What’s the food like?
The food is local, fresh, home-cooked and hearty. Common food items include domestic cheeses and other dairy products, dry meats, fish, freshly baked bread and pastries, and local fruits and veggies.

Can my dietary needs be accommodated?
Absolutely! Just let us know at booking.

How fit do I need to be?
A reasonable level of fitness is required for hiking, approx. ascending 700 m at a relaxed pace.
You will need to be able to handle 5 – 6 hours of hiking in continuous pace for this adventure.

What’s the weather like?
Summer and early fall are the best times to visit. Overnight lows in the mountains range from 3 – 8 °C, and daily highs range from 13 – 20 °C. Across the country it generally rains about a third of the days each month.

What should I pack?
Please bring hiking shoes and trousers, breathable t-shirts, sandals, a swimsuit and towel, sun protection, and warm layers for the evenings. Also bring a small backpack to carry personal items throughout the day (water, snacks, shirts to use during activities).

What flights should I book?

Start point?
You will be met at the Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) on Thursday. Your transfer will meet all flights scheduled to land by 13:00 or earlier. Your host will be in touch before the trip to finalize all details.

Finish point?
Your transport will drop you off at Podgorica Airport (TGD) on Sunday and you are free to book any flight departing by 10:30 am or later on Sunday. Your host will be in touch before your trip to finalize details.

Getting there and away?
Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) and Podgorica (TGD) Airport are served by regular, inexpensive flights, including well-timed outbound flights on EasyJet and return flights on Ryanair.

You can get any flights that suit you, but make sure they fit the times above to take advantage of the included transfers. Your host will contact you before you leave to check your arrival and departure plans.

This itinerary and the duration of the activities are subject to change due to group abilities and preferences, weather conditions and forecasts, special events, etc.

We can’t guarantee availability of twin rooms for the duration of the tour. All rooms will, in most cases, be double, or more. Or single upon request.

In a highly unlikely case of insufficient number of people accommodated in one of our selected hotels, dinner will be served on a basis of a predetermined menu of 2 or 3 meals.
